National News: In Delhi’s Welcome locality, a small child fell into an open drain and lost his life. The incident has once again highlighted the unsafe conditions across the national capital. The BJP government, however, remains silent. AAP’s Delhi convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj said that children continue to fall into drains and sewers, but no official has been held accountable. He accused the government of mere whitewashing after every tragedy.
Bhardwaj alleged that more than 30 people have died in the last three months due to drain-related and rain-related accidents. He said the so-called “four-engine BJP government” is busy making false claims of cleaning and desilting.
He pointed out that on Friday, heavy rains in Nizamuddin led to waterlogging and the collapse of the roof at Dargah Sharif Patte Shah, killing six people. Such repeated incidents expose the failure of the administration. The tragedy has shaken the locals who were offering prayers at the dargah. Eyewitnesses narrated that the rainwater kept rising, but no official help arrived on time.
Families of the victims were seen crying helplessly, demanding justice and compensation. This disaster has once again underlined how fragile the safety of religious and public places in Delhi has become. Residents say these accidents are not natural calamities but human-made negligence.
Bhardwaj added that on Thursday, a biker lost his life in Kalkaji when a tree fell on him, while two children died when a DDA wall collapsed. He said these accidents prove the crumbling infrastructure of Delhi. Passersby described the accident scene as horrifying and traumatic. Locals rushed to rescue him, but the heavy trunk crushed the man instantly.
Parents of the children who died in the wall collapse are still in shock. Residents claim that weak foundations and poor construction have been ignored by authorities for years. Experts warn that without urgent repairs, more such deaths are certain during monsoons.
Despite tall claims by the BJP government, Delhi drowns every monsoon. Open drains, broken walls, and unsafe streets have turned life into a nightmare. Bhardwaj accused the ruling party of rhetoric instead of real work. Every year, funds are announced, but citizens say nothing changes on the ground.
Opposition leaders demand an accountability audit of all civic projects. Delhi’s reputation as the national capital is being ruined by repeated chaos. Commuters spend hours stranded on flooded roads without any relief. Families in low-lying areas spend sleepless nights fearing the collapse of walls and drains near their homes.
He warned that the public will no longer remain silent. Bhardwaj said the BJP government must act immediately, or people of Delhi will take to the streets to demand justice and accountability. Social activists are already mobilizing protests across various parts of the city. Citizens say they are fed up with empty assurances and want concrete action.
Resident Welfare Associations have called for mass petitions to highlight civic neglect. Several groups are also planning to approach courts for legal remedies. Experts suggest that only strong public pressure can push the administration to finally fix Delhi’s infrastructure.
